Research Interests:

Induction of HO-1 has been shown to lower blood pressure in various models of hypertension and also to protect the kidneys from acute renal failure. It is still unclear where and how HO-1 induction exerts its actions. To answer these questions we use tissue specific induction of HO-1 to investigate its role in hypertension or acute renal failure. We also investigate the beneficial actions of HO-1's products Carbon Monoxide and Bilirubin in hypertension and acute renal failure.

Research Methods:

Acute and chronic measurements of arterial pressure in small rodents. Intra-Renal Medullary Infusions in small rodents.Molecular and biochemical assays (i.e. PCR, Western Blot, ELISA, etc.)Histology (general and immunohistochemistry)
